Asking For A Friend: Better Together

A lot of people have a genuine faith. They pray, they listen to worship music, they catch a sermon podcast when they can. And honestly, it seems to work. But this week we were confronted with a distinction that is hard to shake: there is a difference between a faith that is surviving and a faith that is growing.
Drawing from 1 Corinthians 12, Paul's image of the church as a body, we explored the case that the church is not a human institution you opt in and out of. It is a living organism that Jesus himself said he would build. When you said yes to Jesus, you were placed into something, and a disconnected part does not thrive. It withers.
The sermon addressed the real obstacles honestly and without minimizing them: hypocrisy, church hurt, and disappointment. But it landed here: the solution to a broken experience of community is not no community. It is better community. You were never designed to do faith alone. The body needs every part present, engaged, and connected, and that includes you.
