Have you ever stood outside in the country on a quiet night? The stillness, tranquility, and peace of a moment like that allows us to hear small sounds we would otherwise overlook. Now, imagine in that moment a sudden appearance of one of the most fearsome creatures you have ever seen! It’s an angel, and he is talking to you!
This moment is central to the Christmas story. The announcement of the birth of Jesus happened in a spectacular, supernatural way. We become too familiar with it and overlook the stunning miracle that it was.
In this sermon, we will examine a chapter in the Bible, Luke 2, and how it inspired one of the greatest Christmas carols of all time, Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. The song from these angels was perhaps the greatest moment of spontaneous praise in the history of the world.
