Lead Like Jesus: Radically Restoring
February 22, 2026
In John 21, Peter stands in the shadow of his greatest failure. After publicly denying Jesus three times, he appears finished. Disqualified. Done. Yet on a quiet beach beside a charcoal fire, Jesus does not shame or sideline him. Instead, He restores him through honest confrontation and recommissions him for leadership.
Three denials are answered with three affirmations. The size of the restoration matches the size of the fall. Jesus goes beneath Peter’s behavior to his heart and asks one question: “Do you love me?” Leadership does not begin with skill but with affection for Christ. Restored love becomes redirected responsibility. Failure did not cancel Peter’s calling. It clarified it. And the same is true for us.
