The Church Defined: Defined By Power

This week, we dove into the powerful story of the early church on the day of Pentecost, where everything changed. The Holy Spirit moved in three incredible ways: coming after us to save, coming into us to sanctify, and coming upon us to empower. This Spirit-filled presence transformed ordinary followers into a united, empowered community boldly proclaiming God’s mighty works. But their story wasn’t without challenge—the world misunderstood and mocked them, just as it misunderstood Jesus, Paul, and countless faithful believers throughout history. We saw that being misunderstood isn’t a flaw—it’s part of what it means to follow Jesus faithfully in a fallen world. Yet, the early church stood firm, grounded deeply in Scripture, proving that their movement was no accident, but the fulfillment of God’s promises. Their lives were shaped and sustained by the Bible, just as Jesus Himself constantly pointed to the Word as the ultimate authority. Today, we face the same call: to live scriptural lives rooted in God’s truth, allowing the Bible to shape our hearts so fully that it guides our every response. As we walk this path, let’s remember—it’s not just about knowing the Bible, but knowing its Author. And there’s no better time than now to begin that life-changing relationship.
