The Light Has Come: Light Has Dawned

Revelation 4 and 5 lift the curtain on ultimate reality. Before God reveals anything about the future, He reveals Himself. In Revelation 4, John is brought into the heavenly throne room where everything centers on the One seated on the throne. Thunder, lightning, brilliant gemstones, a rainbow of covenant promise, worshiping creatures, and twenty-four elders all proclaim that God reigns with absolute authority, beauty, and holiness. This vision reorders our perspective: when life feels chaotic, the throne is not empty. God is ruling, unshaken, unthreatened, and worthy of worship.
Revelation 5 then reveals the heart of the One who reigns. A sealed scroll—God’s sovereign plan—cannot be opened by anyone in heaven or on earth. John weeps until he sees the only One worthy: the conquering Lion who appears as a slain Lamb. Jesus takes the scroll because He overcame through sacrifice, purchasing people from every nation by His blood. Heaven erupts in worship because the Lamb is worthy.
These chapters show us how to live today: grounded by the throne and guided by the Lamb. God reigns, so we can trust Him. The Lamb redeemed us, so we can serve Him with confidence and purpose.
